This is the month where we see everybody donning those pink ribbons. Ever wondered what it was all about? October has been dubbed Breast Cancer Awareness Month and internationally, countries and various charities try to raise awareness of the disease and raise funds for research into the disease. The pink ribbons help raise awareness and funds for the cause.
The thing about Breast Cancer (and as a matter of fact most cancers) is that your chances for a good prognosis dramatically increase with early detection. This means if you can detect it when it is now starting you have a good chance of beating it. Women are encouraged to routinely do self-exams and if they have any doubt to go and see their doctor.
In Trinidad and Tobago, corporate Trinidad and Tobago has stepped up their game and increased their funding for awareness programs. In this month in particular there are many charity 5k runs. You guys can go out there and run for a good cause.
